Does your pet know any tricks?
Mine has one: she can sit on command, but only through bribery, and I still consider it a success.
So how does someone get a 1,400 - 1,500-pound steer or a 200+pound pig to do tricks?
Clear Creek ISD will hold its annual livestock show and rodeo this week - a three-day showcase for students to lead their steer, goats, and pigs in front of judges, bidders, and potential buyers.
But it isn't about trickery with these animals and their student partners: success at a livestock show and auction is the result of a school year spent developing a bond. For the student, that means waking up before dawn to feed, groom and care for their animal, and doing it all over again late at night.
If you've never been to a livestock show and auction, learn when and where you can watch these students and animals show what dedication looks like, or how you can help the FFA program raise thousands of dollars for the students and their futures.
