Hispanic Heritage Month kicks off Friday and there's a wealth of festivities all over the area, from a salsa festival at Discovery Green to the Festival Chicano at Miller Outdoor Theatre.
The major movie opening this weekend is the latest Agatha Christie-inspired thriller, "A Haunting in Venice," starring Branagh, Tina Fey and Michelle Yeoh. But if you're in the mood for a Texas story, there's "Cassandro," with Gael Garcia Bernal and Bad Bunny, a film telling the true story of a gay El Paso wrestler.
You don't have to leave home to catch the anticipated film from Chilean director Pablo Larraín ("Spencer," "Jackie") as his "El Conde," a very dark comedy in which Chilean strongman Augusto Pinochet is reimagined as a vampire, hits Netflix Friday.
If you're looking for somewhere new to dine, check out the seafood-oriented Balboa Surf Club, the latest dining option in Uptown.
This is your last weekend to catch Houston Ballet's reinterpretation of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream."
