Heights doesn't have a softball field to practice on. The way the high school is constructed, there isn't any room for a softball or baseball field. Houston ISD rents out Stude Park in the Heights for both programs, who won district titles this season. "I always tell the girls no excuses — just results," Heights coach Lamont Robins said. "Wherever we are practicing, we're going to get our work in and get it done. These girls are resilient, and they're prepared to practice wherever. Even if that means we have practice on the football field at the school." Heights (27-2-1), which has won 24 straight games, faces Cinco Ranch (20-9) in a Region III-6A best-of-three area-round series that begins at 6 p.m. Thursday at Delmar Sports Complex. Game 2 will be played at 6 p.m. Friday at Cinco Ranch with Game 3 to follow, if necessary.
