I have some bummer news for you all.
Our planned live conversation with Fort Bend County Judge KP George and Commissioner Dexter McCoy has been canceled because George has withdrawn from the event. Because the session was structured as a joint discussion between the two candidates, we're not moving forward with it as scheduled.
I know many readers were interested in hearing directly from both officials ahead of the primaries, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who submitted questions for the candidates. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
And don't worry; we'll continue covering the race and sharing interviews and reporting to keep you informed in the weeks ahead. And if you want to follow our election coverage more closely, sign up for our Texas Elections 2026 newsletter. Each Thursday, chief politics reporter John Moritz will catch you up on the latest news from the campaign trail and help you understand who the candidates are, who is funding them and what they would have influence over if elected.
