For generations, children at McReynolds Middle School have experienced firsthand the realities of going to school near one of the busiest railyards in the country. Students there are forced to crawl over or under stalled trains or even take their chances with slow-moving ones just to get to school. A recent Editorial Board video highlighted the issue, which struck a chord with thousands of viewers.
Chronicle readers are invited to learn more about the problem and what can be done at a live community event with Houston City Councilmember Mario Castillo, Harris County Commissioner Adrian Garcia and Principal Chastity Caesar. They will be joined by the Chronicle's Editor of Opinion, Lisa Falkenberg.
