Welcome back to Houston Chronicle Live, a weekly newsletter that keeps you updated on all the live events we're hosting this week and beyond.
As a native Houstonian and a child of the '90s, there are few things that made a bigger impression than the Houston Rockets winning the 1993-94 NBA championship. My older brothers are die-hard fans and painstakingly recorded every playoff game on VHS tapes, which we would all watch over and over—minus the OJ Simpson takeover of Game 5. So, I'm not exaggerating when I say I'm incredibly excited about tomorrow's virtual event with former star players Mario Elie and Matt Bullard, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of that triumphant win. If you haven't already, register below.
We've also partnered with Texas Book Festival on a summer book club, where registrants can read a gripping adventure novel and meet the award-winning author in a live virtual event. More on that below.
See you tomorrow on Zoom.

Tomorrow, we're revisiting the Rockets' first NBA championship, which happened 30 years ago this month, with former players Mario Elie and Matt Bullard.
Rockets beat reporter Jonathan Feigen and sports editor Reid Laymance, who were both reporters covering the Rockets during their winning season, will moderate.
In addition to our usual panel discussion and reader Q&A, we've scoured the Chronicle photo archives to share exclusive images, with live commentary from our VIP guests.

Did the Rockets really use the Chronicle's 'Choke City' headline as motivation? What was going on behind the scenes during the OJ Simpson chase? If you have any burning questions for Mario Elie and Matt Bullard, please send them to live@houstonchronicle.com.
