A deadly storm, two families and the choices that changed everything
This is the story of two Houston mothers who faced split-second, life-or-death decisions and the impact it will have on their families for years to come.
Like many around the city, Christin Martinez and Erika Arellano were forced into action when a severe system of thunderstorms and tornadoes ravaged Houston in mid May, destroying homes and leaving hundreds of thousands without power during the first derecho to hit southeast Texas since 1987. This story follows the experiences of the Martinez and Arellano families as they try to recover from the tragic events that were caused by the storm.
