FAB 50: Breaking down the top Houston high school football recruits for the 2025 class

It might only be late June, but it's never too early to start looking forward to football season.

The Greater Houston area is always loaded with high school talent, and this year is no different.

The Class of 2024 gave us one of the top players in the country with Willis quarterback D.J. Lagway, who was named the national player of the year, along with several other highly-touted five-star recruits.

So, how does this year's batch of senior players shape up?

The Class of 2025 is stronger overall, according to the composite rankings from 247Sports. We took a closer look at the headliners in our annual FAB 50 recruits list. There are 26 high schools represented and 16 college programs with commitments on the list, which features profiles on the top 50 local recruits.

The Woodlands grad Kassidy Cook makes her second Olympic diving team.

Kassidy Cook, a member of the 2016 U.S. team, wins the 3-meter synchronized event to qualify for Paris in 2024 after just missing the Tokyo team.

Goldy reaches milestone

St. Louis Cardinals slugger Paul Goldschmidt, a graduate of The Woodlands High School, reached a major milestone over the weekend. Goldschmidt connected for his 350th career home run, becoming the 100th player in MLB history to achieve that feat. He trails only Giancarlo Stanton (420), Mike Trout (378) and Joey Votto (356) on that list when it comes to active players. Goldschmidt has 10 home runs this season.


Stat of the day

1: The number of wins needed by the Texas A&M baseball team to secure the Men's College World Series title. The Aggies will take on Tennessee in the decisive Game 3 of the championship series at 6 p.m. tonight in Omaha. Tompkins graduate Jace LaViolette has been a huge part of the team's success and had two hits during a Game 2 loss Sunday.
