What does Nico Collins' contract extension mean for the Texans?
Chron sports editor Josh Criswell:
Nico Collins enjoyed a breakout season in his third NFL campaign, and the Texans rewarded him for it this week with a three-year contract extension.
Houston already has arguably the top wide receiver trio in the NFL, with four-time Pro Bowler Stefon Diggs joining Collins and rookie standout Tank Dell this offseason. Though with Diggs poised to become a free agent after the season, Collins' extension helps solidify the Texans' future. In addition to Collins and Dell, they have Offensive Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud, running back Joe Mixon, veteran offensive linemen Laremy Tunsil, Tytus Howard and Shaq Mason, tight end Dalton Schultz, Defensive Rookie of the Year Will Anderson Jr., linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair, cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. and kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn under team control through at least 2026.
