Here are some tips for students struggling with college application season.

I remember feeling extremely overwhelmed and stressed when I was applying to colleges nearly a decade ago. The process, while juggling after-school activities and homework, seemed like a chore.

The uncertainty of finding out if you're getting in is hard enough on its own, but it can feel worse by the decreasing acceptance rates at top schools and high tuition costs. 

Mental health experts want students to know that not everyone experiences college admission the same way, and some may struggling more than others, according to Houston Chronicle reporter Samantha Ketterer. 

Here are some tips for managing a difficult application season.

Pearland student named reserve grand champion at Houston Rodeo art competition

The two top works of art at this year's Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, including a Pearland ISD student's piece, together raised nearly a half million dollars at the rodeo's student art program auction Sunday.

Openings and Closings

Sno-Bees, a seasonal snow cone truck, will be opening its window again on March 16 in Alvin.

The temporary business will be located at The Chameleon, 319 W Willis Street from 2-7 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday.


Shout out

Congrats to Stephen Lewis, a senior at Manvel High School, who has been named a top performer for Houston area baseball.

Lewis went 6-for-9 with four runs scored, two doubles, three triples, one stolen base and eight RBIs in the Mavericks' victories over Stafford (22-1) and Cypress Lakes (4-3), according to Houston Chronicle reporter Alvaro MontaƱo.


One last thing …

Great Wolf Lodge is planning to open its new location in Webster later this year.

Representatives said the resort will open October 18, a month sooner than previously planned.
