The Woodlands welcomes one of 2024's first babies.

One of the first babies of 2024 was born just one minute after the clock struck midnight in The Woodlands Jan. 1.

Griffin Beck Golemon was Memorial Hermann Health System's first baby of 2024 after coming into the world at 12:01 a.m. at the Woodlands Medical Center.

Goleman weighed in at 8 pounds, 11 ounces. He's the youngest sibling to two older brothers; in a statement, the hospital said his parents are doing very well. Read the full story here.

Need to Know

A walkway of Chinese lanterns during the new holiday light show, Radiant Nature at the Houston Botanic Garden on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, in Houston. Radiant Nature is inspired by traditional Chinese lantern designs, including a huge 200-foot dragon to celebrate 2024 being the Year of the Dragon, a 100-foot magnolia tunnel, a 50-foot pagoda and a field of 10-foot bluebonnets, among many others. It's a cool mix of Asian-themed installations and floral / natural themed ones, but all of them are incredibly impressive. There are also several interactive elements for guests to play with along the route as well. It opens to the public on Nov. 17 and runs through the end of February in order to help Houstonians celebrate ALL of the holidays, including Lunar New Year and the Chinese Lantern Festival.
