When you want a fancy night out, how far should you have to drive?
That's a question Rob Slate asked when he was deciding what kind of restaurant he was going to open in his hometown.
Slate is the executive chef of the soon-to-open Slate Table + Bar in League City and graduate of Clear Brook High School and noticed that people in the Bay Area tended to drive into Houston for date night or other special occasions.
He says he wants his restaurant to be about more than just great food; it should be an "experience."
As a chef, Slate said he likes to keep things interesting, and his menu is Italian-influenced with fusion-inspired instincts. As someone who loves his hometown, he wants his community to find that "Midtown vibe" they seek in Houston in their own neighborhood.
