Sheila Jackson Lee files for re-election to Congress after mayoral race defeat
U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee quietly filed for re-election to Congress Sunday evening, marking her bid for a 16th term in Washington on the heels of a landslide defeat in the Houston mayoral runoff.
The longtime Democrat is poised for an unusually competitive primary fight against Amanda Edwards, a former Houston City council member who once interned in Jackson Lee’s office.
