Spring is the most generous city in the U.S. this year, according to GoFundMe.

Spring is the most generous city in the U.S., according to GoFundMe's Year in Help report for 2023.

Apparently, Spring residents are pretty consistently generous too, scoring in the top four of donations per capita among U.S. cities with more than 50,000 people for four years in a row.

It's heartbreaking but neat seeing the different causes people have rallied around this year, from medical expenses for a skydiving instructor that saved his client's life to helping people who have lost loved ones or are going through tough times.

It was even more inspiring to see what people around here do all year long. That includes a Spring CEO who is a top donor to World Vision, which helps fund causes in Central America; Simone Biles, who gives back through mentoring young gymnasts at her parents' gym and advocating for gymnasts' rights; and several local students who noticed when their classmates were in need, making nonprofits when they were as young as eight years old.

Three presidents' locks of hair—including George Washington, Dwight D. Eisenhower and John F. Kennedy—will soon go to space.

Why? To serve as a time capsule that will travel beyond the moon and preserve history for humans or aliens to rediscover, according to the Houston company that will launch it.
