In the Houston area, vouchers aren't only for low-income renters. They can also buy homes.

Texas landlords can legally discriminate against voucher holders, but loan officers cannot. Some are advocating for more awareness that vouchers can be used for homeownership.

The Satya Development and Marriot project would be the first St. Regis-branded residential project in Texas.

General Motors and Pilot Company are opening five EV charging stations in the Houston area and East Texas by the end of 2023.

General Motors plans four EV charging stations in Houston area

The stations are part of GM's initiative with Pilot Co. to build a coast-to-coast fast-charging network for electric vehicles.

The Paycheck Protection Program is part of the CARES Act COVID-19 funding package that aids small businesses impacted by the pandemic with forgivable loans. The program has issued more than $634.4 billion in loans. The Justice Department has since been pursuing PPP fraud cases, including a recent one in Houston, involving a hair extension entrepreneur who sought more then $4 million in loans. A jury determined her applications were fraudulent.

Houston brother and sister indicted for fraudulently collecting $1.2M in PPP loans

The two are accused of fabricating monthly payroll expenses and the number of workers at businesses to acquire PPP loans.

New schools, shopping center and other big projects coming to Montgomery County in 2024

Most of the projects are to accommodate for growth, officials said. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Montgomery County's population has grown to 620,443 in 2020 from 455,749 in 2010.
