League City reopens pavilion following $180K renovation.
Pickleball anyone?
League City recently completed an overhaul of the pavilion at Gripon Park that included updated lighting and new recreational amenities. The $180,000 project also included expanding the pavilion's pickleball court amenities.
While the basketball courts are still popular, according to city spokesperson Sarah Osborne, it's the pickleball enthusiasts who are omnipresent at the pavilion during business hours.
They're either on the court playing, waiting on the sidelines for their turn, or watching a match, and the city even added bleacher-style benches to the pavilion to make the seating more accommodating.
Obviously, the new seating options are for all the pavilion's visitors, not just pickleball fans, but for right now, it seems like the pickleball court rules.
Pickleball was invented in the 1960s, but for an old sport, it seems like a modern pastime.
