Texas judge temporarily blocks law abolishing Harris County elections office
The Harris County Elections Administrators office will be allowed to run the upcoming November election after a Travis County judge on Tuesday sided with Harris County and ordered a temporary injunction blocking a new state law that abolished the county's elections office.
Senate Bill 1750, which was signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott in June, was set to go into effect Sept. 1, weeks before a high-turnout election with Houston's mayoral race at the top of the ballot.
