Summer Sale: ONLY 25¢! |
Sugar Land promotes community engagement and eco-consciousness through Park(ing) Day contest.
It's almost fall, the summer dresses are on sale, and they're saying the sun will be kinder now.
Among the exciting lineup of fall events in Sugar Land, the Park(ing) Day competition stood out to me as particularly interesting.
People will temporarily convert roadside parking spaces into public parks or art installations, all with the goal of advocating for safer and more environmentally friendly streets.
The city of Sugar Land said this event will foster community and business engagement and promote teambuilding.
Park(ing) Day was launched in 2005 by San Francisco-based art studio Rebar. Today, it has evolved into a worldwide public art initiative, with cities around the globe.
Sep. 15, 2023, will mark Sugar Land's first Park(ing) Day, and I'm curious to see what people come up with.
Applications are available now and will be accepted throughout the month of August from community members ready to create a park out of a parking space for the day. There is no theme for Park(ing) Day. Find a team and sign up today!
