The arrival of a new year is a time to both reflect and look ahead.

Photojournalists at the Chronicle compiled a gallery of the top photos from 2022, providing a look back at some of last year's most memorable moments. These images reflect the experiences of individuals throughout greater Houston as they faced challenges and celebrated triumphs.

There will be many more photos to take and stories to tell as we continue into 2023.

Planning is already underway for some of the region's most popular events such as the Houston Barbecue Festival, featuring Texas' top pitmasters. The celebration will return for its 10th year this April at the Humble Civic Center Arena Complex.
