| | The latest Halloween scare. | | The latest entry in the "tainted Halloween candy" saga now revolves around the rumor that evildoers will slip "rainbow fentanyl" to young trick-or-treaters on Halloween. It's enough to remind one of the days when parents could take their kids' haul to a hospital and get it X-rayed. Or when kids could go trick-or-treating at the local mall instead of going door-to-door. (I seem to recall doing that at Willowbrook Mall. Or was it Greenspoint?) Evan MacDonald spoke to drug policy and public health experts about the matter. The rainbow pills are real, but is the rumor? How about that rain? Sure, I only received .04 of an inch here at the Lindale Park bureau, but I'll take it. Skies should be mostly sunny today with highs around 70. Chance of the window being open during the day: 100 percent. | | | | | Photo: Yi-Chin Lee/Staff Photographer | | GOP target Lina Hidalgo says she's not done in Harris County. | | Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo has expanded the role of county government in pursuit of a progressive agenda, delighting liberals and generated intense backlash from conservatives who fundamentally oppose her vision. | | | Five other stories to read today | | | | On this day in 1936, radio station KTRH unveiled its renovated studios.
You know where KTRH used to be located, right? It's referenced in its call letters. Find out where it used to be, and how long it was there, in today's write-up.
In other news, I finally got my hands on a Sound Warehouse record crate. Remember those? Made of wood, not too sturdy, but got the job done? You can see one for yourself in this Bayou City History tweet.
