Sgt. Nicole Gee, Sacramento fallen Marine, remembered as ‘most loving and caring individual’ – The world lost "one of the most beautiful souls to ever exist" after 13 service members were killed in Thursday's attack at the Kabul airport, according to a close friend of a fallen Sacramento Marine. Sergeant Nicole L. Gee was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 24, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. She was 23 years old when she was killed. Landon Workman, a close friend of Gee, said Gee took every situation as an opportunity to learn and grow and set examples and standards that were difficult for others to achieve. (Eric Escalante, ABC10) Human trafficking operation in Turlock leads to 14 arrests –14 people were arrested in Turlock after a human trafficking operation, according to Stanislaus County Sheriff Jeff Dirkse. Dirkse shared the news about the bust on social media. In a Facebook post, he said the sheriff's office along with local and federal partners participated in the operation. He said 14 people were arrested for various prostitution-related charges. Victims were also offered services. (Eric Escalante, ABC10) Lake Tahoe Basin and El Dorado County under evacuation due to the Caldor Fire – Fire officials have ordered more evacuations around the Tahoe Basin and told other residents to be ready to leave as crews continue to deal with a two-week old blaze southwest of the alpine lake straddling the California-Nevada state line. Officials said Sunday evening the Caldor Fire was “more aggressive than anticipated” as it continues to edge toward Lake Tahoe. Due to the warning in South Lake Tahoe, Barton Memorial Hospital decided to evacuate all its patients to regional partner facilities. The hospital's emergency department will remain open.
