| California approves 1st state-funded universal basic income plan – The California Senate and Assembly have voted to approve a funding plan to allow cities to set up universal basic income programs. The $35 million plan will fund local programs that will provide monthly cash payments to young adults who recently left foster care and pregnant people. The Stockton Economic Empowerment Demonstration or SEED resulted in residents paying off debt and becoming financially stable. With cities like Stockton experiencing success from the program, Los Angeles and New Orleans are among the cities piloting similar programs. (Eden Harris, ABC10 & Associated Press) Two men indicted for conspiring to attack Democratic Headquarters in Sacramento – The FBI said two Bay Area men were indicted for conspiring to attack Democratic Headquarters with incendiary devices. Authorities have built their case with months of investigation. Officials said the indictment described how the two talked about the attacks on numerous occasions, noting examples where one said, “I want to blow up a democrat building bad.” (Eric Escalante, ABC10) Sacramento woman urges people to get vaccinated despite becoming COVID-19 breakthrough case – As coronavirus cases start to rise again, a woman in Sacramento urges people to get vaccinated even after she caught COVID-19 at least a month after her vaccination. The woman visited a busy restaurant with her best friend in San Diego and took the risk of taking her mask off while inside.
