Five softball teams from the Greater Houston area win state championships

Happy Monday!

Austin turned into Houston’s championship city this weekend. Five Houston-area teams reached the UIL softball state tournament, and all five returned home with state titles.

Liberty rolled to a victory over Brock in the Class 4A Division II state championship game, securing the program’s fourth state title since 2018.

Barbers Hill completed its redemption tour in emphatic fashion, as LSU commit Macie Bryant threw a perfect game and Maddi Ray blasted a walk-off grand slam in a victory over Aledo.

Lake Creek cemented its dynasty by rallying past Fort Worth Brewer for the Class 5A Division II state championship, securing the program’s fourth title in five seasons.

Pearland won its fourth state championship in Class 6A Division I as ace Madelyn Guzman delivered a dominant performance in the circle.

Katy captured the Class 6A Division II state championship by holding off Forney behind a complete-game effort from freshman Haley Schmitt.
