Former Spanish radio broadcaster René Cárdenas, 94, is elected to the Astros' Hall of Fame as its class of 2024 during Astros FanFest on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at Minute Maid Park in Houston. Cárdenas became the first Spanish-language announcer to cover Major League Baseball (MLB), when he joined the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1958. He has also broadcast games for the Houston Astros.
