Drivers along the Galveston coast may start noticing new signs, and they are there for more than just traffic.
The Texas Department of Transportation is working with wildlife experts to reduce collisions with a rare animal known as the "ghost wolf," a hybrid of coyotes and the critically endangered red wolf found only along the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast. By adding wildlife crossing signs along FM 3005, officials hope to protect both drivers and the animals as development in the area continues.
