Some Houston tenants are getting lawyers at the last minute. Here's why.

For those unfortunate enough to find themselves facing eviction, hiring an attorney is probably a good idea.

Affording an attorney is another question.

This is about the team of nonprofit lawyers that make up the Dallas Eviction Advocacy Center, led by Mark Melton. They recently set up shop in Houston, where you'll find folks like Mario Pineda working the room at the city's busiest eviction court.

Find out how Melton brought this idea to fruition and how a Facebook post during the depths of the pandemic got the ball rolling.
