Montgomery County Fair kicks off first weekend with rodeos, concerts, fireworks
Greetings, Montgomery County friends,
The annual Montgomery County Fair is kicking off Thursday and will be in town through April 19. All the fun takes place at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds on Airport Road in Conroe.
From parking to music concerts, here's what to know for the first weekend of the fair:
Senior Citizens Day starts at 9 a.m. Thursday followed by the carnival grounds, which open in the evening.
Rodeo events will take place Friday and Saturday night in the arena with music performances from Roger Creager and Tanner Usrey, respectively. New this year, or at least to me, there will be fireworks after both concerts. On Sunday, a new event called Faith at the Fair takes place with performances from Christian music artists.
Tickets are needed for the first weekend of the fair but admission Monday through Thursday is free. Additionally, you'll be glad to know that parking is free this year.
What are you looking forward to at this year's fair? Feel free to drop me a line.

Shout Out
Shout out to Laura Politte from the County Library Genealogy and Preservation Center. She will retire this month and has been a tremendous history resource for the community.
"It will be hard to replace Laura as she has been energetic, inspirational and creative in her efforts to improve the Library Genealogy Department’s facilities and programs," said Larry Foerster, Montgomery County Historical Commission Chairman.
A retirement part will take place at the library 11 a.m. to 2 p.m April 23.
