We're back with another edition of Where We're Eating.

The Houston barbecue scene is thriving these days with a diverse group of pitmasters pushing the status quo with their smoked meats.

Barbecue columnist J.C. Reid has updated his list of the top 30 barbecue joints across the greater Houston metro. It features tried-and-true favorites, as well as new establishments that deserve their flowers.

#1 - Truth BBQ

Why we love it: The buzz of this barbecue joint is warranted when they're one of the best at the Texas trinity (brisket, pork ribs and sausage).

What to order: Texas trinity, Philly cheesesteak, brisket boudin and a side of tater tot casserole.

#2 - Midan's BBQ

Why we love it: This trailer combines Texas barbecue with Caribbean flavors. 

What to order: Brisket, smoked oxtails, sorrel juice (hibiscus flower) and white chocolate bread.

#3 - Eastbound BBQ

Why we love it: It's classic Central Texas-style 'Q with some flair like Korean chili flakes. 

What to order: Sweet-and-spicy pork ribs and German-style sausage if they have it.
