Our new property tax tool is coming this April.
Property tax season is here, and that means Houston-area homeowners will start receiving appraisal notices in the mail soon.
Texas is known for high property taxes – some of Houston's surrounding suburbs have the highest burdens in the U.S.
Homeowners are encouraged to file a protest if they think their property's been unfairly appraised, but most people don't exercise this right to protest. And firms that do it on behalf of a homeowner will charge a fee of up to 50% of their savings.
We're launching a smarter way to prepare your property tax protest. The TX Tax guided tool, powered by the Houston Chronicle, helps you build your case, step by step, without having to pay a consultant a percentage of your savings.
Coming this April, you'll be able to:
- Avoid costly mistakes and missed deadlines 🎯
- Compare real nearby property values using our custom property value calculator 🏡
- Organize your arguments with our script generator and walk into hearings prepared and confident 📜
- Save hundreds without hiring a consultant 💰
Sign up here to get early access to TX Tax, protest deadline reminders and helpful coverage throughout protest season.

Good luck to HISD's middle schoolers as all students in sixth and seventh grade will take a new "accelerated math" pathway next year, expanding access to Algebra 1 before high school and more advanced coursework later on.
The plan coincides with a new state law designed to increase Algebra 1 access across the state.
Algebra was not my finest subject back then.
