We're back with Where We're Eating.

Valentine's Day is around the corner, and it got me thinking about my love of restaurants and the memories they hold. But lately, with so many restaurants closing, we're losing some of the spots where first dates happened — and in my case, where I took my engagement photos.

Check out my essay about how closed restaurants live on through our love stories.

While I miss that restaurant, there are plenty more to make new memories. Here are some of my recommendations for Valentine's Day. You'll want to book sooner than later.

Premium tuna at Soto

#1 - Soto

Why we love it: Chef Andy Chen delivers an excellent omakase experience with a diverse array of sushi, decorated beautifully.

What to order: A special 10-course "Omakase of Love"

Location: Montrose

Pasta with house Italian sausage, broccolini and Grana Padana at Latuli

#2 - Latuli

Why we love it: The Roman holiday section of the menu is worth exploring, despite Texas Gulf Coast flavors being the focal point of this restaurant.

What to order: Hamachi, pizza and pasta

Location: Hedwig Village

Lobster Dumplings from Kitchen Rumors.

#3 - Kitchen Rumors

Why we love it: It's not your traditional Indian restaurant; it takes creative risks that work.

What to order: A romantic five-course menu just for Valentine's Day.

Location: Sixth Ward
