You need to eat at Alserkal this weekend

This might be a big statement, but Alserkal Avenue is hands-down one of the absolute best foodie neighbourhoods in Dubai.

Before it became the art destination we know and love today, back in 2008, it was all retrofitted warehouses, marble factories and tire stores. Then, Ayyam Gallery opened its doors and everything changed. Within three years, it had the most active contemporary galleries in the region calling it home.

Fast-forward to now and it is the place to go for some of the most interesting independent, home-grown restaurants and cafés in Dubai.

Piehaus is the latest obsession. A small (yet beautiful) corner unit with only around 25 seats, it often requires queuing if you're not there before 10am. Coming from the team behind 21grams, expect delicious swirly pies and tasty Scandi-style breakfast trays.

Right across the street, you'll also find the new Growhouse by One Life, a café, indoor farm and community hub in one, serving up one of my favourite Iskander kababs in town.

Another place with plenty of buzz around it is Middle Child, a café that comes from Lebanese blogger and chef Lynn Hazim. All we know so far is that it's a space that features a restaurant, a book shop and a gourmet grocery section. We love a multi-use space. Head there next Tuesday to try it for yourself.

But the real flex of Alserkal? Easy — it's how even the longer-standing spots still slap.

Kokoro still has queues any night of the week to this day. Not to mention BKRY, where the pastries are so good you stop caring about your step count the moment you bite into the babka. And of course, our fave late-night karak destination, Project Chaiwalla, for when you want piping hot chai and bites of Indian street food.

So, if you haven't been yet… what are you actually doing? And if you have, well, see you in line at Piehaus.

Until then... Stay hydrated besties,
