This plume diagram shows precipitation forecasts from the European Ensemble model. Each thin gray line represents a different model run, or ensemble member, the blue line is the control forecast, and the green line is the ensemble average. Ensemble forecasts illustrate both the expected rainfall and the uncertainty, helping forecasters gauge the range of possible outcomes. Most ensemble members suggest Houston's rainfall through Sept. 25 will remain under an inch.
