Struggling families can feed their pets, thanks to this new Sugar Land program

One of the lesser-known yet heart-wrenching realities faced by families experiencing food insecurity is the heartbreaking decision to surrender their pets to shelters.

These families often struggle to put food on their tables, and providing for their beloved dogs and cats becomes an overwhelming burden. For many, the only option is to give up their cherished animals.

Having volunteered in animal rescues for nearly two decades, I've witnessed the devastation these situations cause firsthand. The heartbreak is profound for both the families and the pets involved.

Now, thanks to a new program in Sugar Land, struggling families can receive food and supplies for their furry family members, enabling owners and their pets to stay together, even in tough times.

Check out my coverage on the Sugar Paws Pet Pantry for everything you need to know about this great cause.

Joey Chestnut, considered by many to be the greatest competitive eater of all time, is returning to Coney Island to compete in the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4.

I love that people have actually considered that there is a greatest competitive eater of all time. It's not something I've pondered, personally, but I like the idea that somewhere out there, multiple people have mulled it over.

And collectively, they think it's this guy.

Check out Peter Warren's coverage for everything you need to know about competitive hot dog eating and its apparent champion.
