Texas high school football legend Kenneth Hall made a lasting impact

Happy Monday!

From all accounts, Kenneth Hall was essentially unstoppable on the football field.

The mind-boggling numbers he produced certainly back that up.

For almost six decades, "The Sugar Land Express" held the national high school career rushing record with 11,232 yards. It was finally surpassed in 2012 by a guy you may know: Heisman Trophy winner and five-time NFL Pro Bowler Derrick Henry.

Hall, a pilar in the history of Texas high school football, recently died at age 89, friends and family confirmed to the Chronicle. While he may be gone, the impact he had on the sport lives on through his records and Kenneth Hall Stadium in Missouri City.

I got a chance to dive into Hall's stats this past fall as Strake Jesuit junior John Hebert was putting together one of the greatest rushing seasons in state history with 3,542 yards. What I found was astonishing. Hall rushed for a state-record 4,045 yards for the Sugar Land High School Gators in 1953, a mark that only a few players have come close to reaching.

Hall was truly one of a kind, and his legacy will not soon be forgotten.
