Biggest Game?
In the Cheap Seats, Chron sports writers answer burning questions from readers.
What is the most important game left on the Texans' schedule?
Chron sports reporter Michael Shapiro:
Houston has a full slate of marquee games in the coming months, including matchups against both the intrastate Dallas Cowboys and a trio of Super Bowl contenders in the Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens. I'd take the Christmas Day tilt against Lamar Jackson and Co. as the biggest spot on Houston's schedule with Week 10 approaching.
We can scratch both NFC opponents off the list of contenders despite the entertainment value of Houston vs. Detroit in particular. As for the AFC duo, I suspect the Chiefs will secure the conference's No. 1 seed by early December, lowering the stakes of the Week 16 game in Kansas City. Week 17 at NRG Stadium is a different story. Baltimore and Houston could be jockeying for the AFC's No. 2 seed, and standings aside, Christmas provides a rematch for Houston after last year's divisional round drubbing.
Buckle up, Texans fans. A brutal second-half schedule awaits, with late-season matchups against not one, but two MVP candidates from the AFC.
