Texas loves massive stadiums. Here's what they cost to maintain.
High school football in Texas is a big deal.
It's similar in many ways to religion. Passionate devotees flock to football games, which incorporate music and rituals, and in some districts, massive structures.
Football stadiums in Texas high schools can often rival college stadiums. But those stadiums often come with a hefty price tag, funded by tax payers through school bonds.
With the November election coming up, I put together a list of some of the biggest and best high school football stadiums in Texas and what they cost to build and maintain.
It can be a controversial issue. Are stadiums worth the cost? It's a question taxpayers have to decide.
Check out my coverage, and then let me know your thoughts. Do you think we should fund these behemoth structures? Are they an essential part of high school? Let's chat about it.
