Downtown's GreenStreet is getting a multimillion dollar makeover.
The 610,000-square-foot retail and office complex, which opened as Houston Pavilions in 2008 and was rebranded in 2013, spans four blocks bordered by Main, Polk, Dallas and Caroline. It's home to House of Blues, Life Time Work and Guadalajara restaurant.
Placemaking firm Rebees, which took over managing the complex this spring, envisions alleyways lined with unique retailers, local restaurants and entertainment venues. The two-story former Forever 21 store will be transformed into a collection of restaurants with a roof-top patio.
"We think that this project is just screaming for what could be like this alleyway experience," said Matt Ragan, director of repositioning at Rebees. "If you're walking along this little alleyway, you want to find just the best damn dumpling shop there and then bounce to a cool little speakeasy tucked behind it or a Cubano sandwich shop – just all these cool little gems and fun finds."
