Today we're talking about Trump citing the killing of a Houston 12-year-old during the presidential debate...
If you read one thing: Former President Donald Trump criticized President Joe Biden's immigration policies, saying they contributed to the deaths of Jocelyn Nungaray, the 12-year-old girl killed in Houston last week, and other women during their CNN debate.
What did Trump say?
"They're killing our citizens at a level they've never seen before, and you're reading it," Trump said, referring to migrants newly arrived in the country. "These three incredible young girls over the last three days. One of them, I just spoke to the mother. They just had the funeral for this girl, 12 years old. This is horrible what's taking place in our county. We're literally an uncivilized country now."
Why is Jocelyn's death being politicized?
The two men who were arrested and charged with capital murder in connection to her death were Venezuelan nationals who entered the country without permission earlier this year, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
When speaking about Jocelyn's death previously, Trump said the two men "should never have been in our country."
