Slain Sacramento bail bondsman remembered as 'gentle giant' – Friends and family are remembering a Sacramento bail bondsman after he was killed outside the business near the Sacramento County Main Jail. Kevin Brace, 56, was a longtime employee of Greg Padilla Bail Bonds. He died from his injuries after he was assaulted early Monday morning. “Just hours before this brutal murder, he gave two homeless people water,” added Topo Padilla, co-owner of Greg Padilla Bail Bonds. "He was a gentle giant." Sacramento area's largest homeless service provider casts doubt on Point-in-Time Count results – A snapshot of Sacramento's homeless crisis, the 2024 Point-in-Time Count number released Wednesday showed a 29% drop in the overall homeless population in the county since 2022. This is the second time they've been found in Placer County in 2024.
