Battleship views, barking dogs in League City, and a historic home in Texas City
What if you were eating at a restaurant in Galveston overlooking the harbor, but the view was blocked by a big, gray wall of some kind?
That's what the managers of Katie's Seafood Restaurant at Pier 21 in Galveston are having to consider if plans go through for the Battleship Texas to be docked in front of the restaurant.
In League City, barking dogs prompted the city to install a sound wall which is designed to blocking the noise for nearby residents following sound studies to determine how to address their complaints.
And Texas City hosted free tours over the weekend of the Bell House, the oldest building in the city's 1867 Settlement Historic District, a community founded by freed slaves after the Civil War.
But you can also get a peek inside the Bell House on one of the museum's tours Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m. -4 p.m., including for groups of 10 (minimum) for $5 person and the group can a tour of a historic home, including the Bell House for an additional $6 per home.
