Do you think about what you wear before attending a concert in Houston?
Do you care about what you wear to a concert?
I think I used to, when I first started going to shows and wasn't sure what to expect. Not that I went formal. And it's not that I've stopped caring, necessarily. But I really don't find myself putting much thought into it anymore. Comfortable shoes. Comfortable shirt. Jeans. A light jacket.
There are always people at shows, however, who make me feel underdressed. Guys in slick blazers. Women in sequins and high heels. (It's hilarious to see them after the show, limping on the sidewalk, shoes in hand.) But once the lights go down and the show starts, who can see them? And once the show is done, who cares?
Look, I get having a night out, dinner before and hitting up the club after. But me? I'd probably just go home and change. Or do it in the car. The only time I've dressed the part in recent memory was for RodeoHouston, when I had to show off my custom belt buckle.
And, of course, for Beyoncé. Because when she asks you to wear silver, you wear silver.

Shine bright like a diamante
Talking to Chiquis is like catching up with your bestie. I've interviewed her multiple times, and she's always been bracingly honest and genuinely kind. We got on so well that she asked me to interview her onstage when she came to Houston on her book tour. Talk about a wow moment. Her Diamantes Tour is here this weekend, just a week after releasing her album of the same name. It's gonna be a "PPP" y'all.
- Kpop night: Houston is a huge hub for Kpop. Witness the fans that filled Minute Maid Park for the recent Tomorrow X Together show. A full-on Kpop Night, then, is a no-brainer. A DJ will be spinning all your faves, from BTS to Blackpink to NCT 127. Grab your light stick and go. 8 p.m. June 7 at White Oak Music Hall, 2915 N. Main; $17 online.
- Beyoncé watch: Miley Cyrus has lots of love for Beyoncé. She spoke about their friendship to W magazine and how they text each other. Imagine texting with either one of them. How do they have each other saved in their phones? Real names? Code names?

Free movie screening
The animated film "Apollo 10½: A Space Age Childhood" is set just before the Apollo 11 Moon landing and is loosely based on the childhood of Houston native Richard Linklater, who wrote and directed. It's about a fourth-grader who becomes the first person to land on the Moon and stars Jack Black and Zachary Levi. Picnic blankets are encouraged.
Home movies created in Houston during the 1960s were used for research, and some are included in the film. 7:30 p.m. June 8 at The Menil Collection, main lawn, 1533 Sul Ross; free.
- Wear your neon: "Near Dark: A Black Light Art Show" will feature works by local artists that glow under black lights. All regular lighting will be replaced with black lights for the event. Guests are encouraged to wear neon colors. There will be music and drinks. And yes, it's kid-friendly. 7 p.m. June 7 at Hardy & Nance Studios, 902 Hardy; free.

Everybody at the bar gettin' tipsy
Alcohol-soaked snow cones aren't a new invention. But a little branding goes a long way. That's why East End Hardware's boozy snoballs have become a thing. They come in multiple flavors, including Tiger's Blood, Pina Colada, Strocone and Screwdriver. Sounds like a summer must-have to me.
- Free burgers: Trill Burgers is celebrating its first anniversary with free food. The first 607 customers through the door Friday at 3607 S. Shepherd will get a free OG Trill Burger. There will be a surprise guest DJ and limited-edition merch on sale. And who knows who else might stop by?
