If you read one thing: Potential Tropical Cyclone One in the Gulf of Mexico could soon become the first named tropical system of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season and is expected to bring downpours, storms and flooding for some.
Here's the latest:
- Although heavy rainfall associated with PTC One is expected to soak Southeast Texas today, the National Weather Service removed Houston from the areas under a flood watch because forecast rainfall totals decreased.
- Several school districts canceled summer school and other activities today ahead of the tropical rain.
- Officials closed some beaches along the Upper Texas Coast because of elevated tides and dangerous waves.

- Cy-Fair ISD approved a book ban policy giving trustees final say. Cypress-Fairbanks ISD's conservative school board voted Monday night to give itself the first look at book title acquisitions and final say on book challenges, despite concerns from more than 100 community members.
- This massive Tomball home has its own basketball court, library and private pool. This nearly $9 million home in Tomball, within the Saddlebrook Estates gated community, gives the best of both worlds with proximity to the city and the local booming community.
- Montgomery County is funding a $19 million direct connector for Texas 242. Montgomery County has approved funding a $19 million project to build a ramp at Interstate 45 and Texas 242 East.
