Two tropical waves spotted in the Caribbean and Atlantic. What are they and should we worry?

Two tropical systems — one in the Caribbean and one in the Atlantic — have a slight chance of developing into stronger storms over the next week, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Texas and Gulf Coast residents have time and distance are on their side, writes our meteorologist Roberto Villalpando. With several days and hundreds and thousands of miles between these tropical waves and the Texas coast, forecasters can't yet say where the systems will go.

Keep an eye on tropical storms and hurricanes as they approach with our interactive tracker.

Take a look at this year's approved storm names. Want to know how they pick them and if your name is included? Find out here.
