Today we're talking about HISD's summer school issues...
If you read one thing: Some Houston ISD parents said they've struggled to navigate summer school with little or late communication from the district.
What issues are parents experiencing?
This year's summer school, which started Monday, looks different than years past, with an adjusted calendar and a handful of campuses hosting multiple schools. That has caused confusion, and some parents say they had to make several phone calls to learn whether their child was enrolled, which campuses summer school would be at, and whether there would be bus service.
That situation follows robocalls and persistent emails telling many parents their children were required to attend summer school. Those messages left many confused and frustrated on which child the generic messages were referring to, as well as why, since their children met attendance and grade requirements for promotion.
