Check out our guide to Houston area breweries and brewpubs

Houston and its suburbs have seen more breweries pop up each year since 2013.

(Senate Bill 639, approved in 2013, allowed producers with a brewpub license to sell their beer to go, directly to consumers.)

Brewpubs around the city are more than beer sellers-- there is often live music on-site, tours giving visitors insight into the brewing process and even family-friendly full-service restaurants, writes our colleague Chevall Pryce.

Here is a guide to breweries and brewpubs started locally in and around the city, as well as a filter for their features offered.

Fulbrook Ale Works and Braman Winery in Richmond and Texas Leaguer Brewing in Missouri City made the list.

One last thing ...

The past ten years have seen Scorigami become a fun statistical hobby for football enthusiasts who enjoy tracking and predicting new and rare score combinations.

Then came the weather version called "weathergami", invented by meteorologist Jonathan Kahl with historical weather data. Kahl is a professor of atmospheric science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Weathergami tracks weather combinations that have never occurred before. Our Hearst colleagues analyzed Houston's temperatures, comparing them to other cities. Take a look here.
