Celebs takin over 🪭

Celebs and socials

TikTok is capitalizing on its renewed partnership with Universal Music by launching an exclusive "Eras Tour Experience" featuring Taylor Swift. It offers fans-themed profile frames and virtual friendship beads over an 11-week campaign. Meanwhile, X continues to expand its original content slate, signing Khloé Kardashian for a 26-part video podcast. Meanwhile, the platform is set to restrict live-streaming to Premium subscribers only, furthering its strategy of paywalling select features.

The new Symphony platform from TikTok

It will enable businesses to create and deploy virtual influencers for product promotion within the app. The new "Out of Phone: Branded Mission", on the other hand, allows brands to use TikTok creator content in various offline promotional channels, including billboards and in-store displays.

New AI advertising features for Messenger

They include an AI-driven Q&A system that addresses common business inquiries and a messaging promotion tool in Ads Manager, allowing businesses to create and send targeted marketing messages to opted-in users.

New York State to  protect young users from potential social media harms

Governor Kathy Hochul has signed two new laws: the Stop Addictive Feeds Exploitation (SAFE) for Kids Act and the Child Data Protection Act. These measures are part of a broader trend across U.S. states to implement regulations to curb social media's negative impacts on children.

Our Picks

New AR creation tools with new AI features

A Lens tool that can place users into virtual scenes based on text descriptions and AI-powered prompts in Lens Studio for creating custom AR models is within the new developments. Read more about the GenAI Suite in Lens Studio by Snap AR.

Instagram might be developing Chat Widgets

App researcher Alessandro Paluzzi revealed the features including countdown timers, timezone displays, and pinned content access. While still in development, these widgets could offer users and brands new ways to interact and share information in DM.

TikTok introduced a new app called Whee

Unlike TikTok's video-centric approach, Whee focuses on image sharing within close friend circles. The app emphasizes authenticity and spontaneity, encouraging users to share candid moments of their lives exclusively with their inner circle.

YouTube is piloting a feature similar to Community Notes

Notes will allow users to add contextual information to videos. These user-generated notes will be publicly visible if deemed broadly helpful by the community. Users can rate notes as helpful, somewhat helpful, or unhelpful, and provide reasons for their ratings.
