Map shows where Texas oil wells are leaking dangerous H2S gas

More than 54,000 wells in Texas are associated with high enough concentrations of hydrogen sulfide gas to be "immediately dangerous to life or health," if exposed directly.  The Houston Chronicle and nonprofit newsroom the Examination teamed up to map oil and gas wells on potentially hazardous sites for the first time.

Oil companies are releasing toxic gas near homes, investigation finds

Texas oil companies are belching hydrogen sulfide gas into communities with few or no repercussions, an investigation by the Examination and the Houston Chronicle has found.

A poultry facility in Farewell, TX had to cease operations after a test for bird flu was positive, announced the Texas Department of Agriculture Tuesday, April 2, 2024. The facility is required to depopulate 1.6 million laying hens and 337,000 pullets.
