Restaurant expansion roundup

Smalls Sliders, a cheeseburger sliders brand backed by former NFL star Drew Brees, set an opening date for its first Texas store. It will be the first of more than 50 locations planned across the Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio areas.

The business has a unique model with modular restaurants made of bright orange shipping containers that are quick to set up after being delivered to the site. The first one will open in Willis in late August, followed by a Memorial City location later this year.

Smalls Sliders is among several restaurants expanding in Houston, including a new local concept from the owner of the Rouxpour restaurants going into a renovated office building near River Oaks to quick service chains unveiling new prototypes. For dates and details, see our list of seven restaurants growing their footprints here.
