Today's starting lineup

The Astros already had seen a 7-4 lead disappear but when Logan O'Hoppe lofted a fly ball to left and Trey Cabbage went over the short wall to make a catch, it looked like Houston would at least have a chance to rally and win in extra innings.

Instead, the ball came out of Cabbage's glove and it was a two-run homer and a fitting end for a frustrating loss 9-7 loss.

The Astros dropped to 30-36 overall, unable to finalize a sweep that would have put them four games under .500 for the first time since April 9.

"I think we came here and played good, took two out of three," said second baseman Jose Altuve, who was one of the bright spots in the series. "Today was a really good game for both teams. They ended up winning, but I always see the big picture."

Up next for the Astros: three games in San Francisco against the Giants who are in the wild-card hunt in the NL.

We're a little over two weeks away the NBA draft. While the first two picks may be obvious, there are plenty of options and questions for the Rockets at No. 3. Jonathan Feigen has his second mock draft.

As a reminder, Chronicle readers are invited to a private Zoom chat at noon on Tuesday to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Rockets' first NBA championship with former players Mario Elie and Matt Bullard. Click this link to register for the event.

The Texans think they may have found something in their top pick from April. In a short period of time, Kamari Lassiter already has shown why he could be a starter at cornerback.

The Olympics are getting closer each day. The U.S fencing team is going through a time of transition. Houston's Natalie Dostert is leading the women's epee team in the quest for its first medal since 2012.

The LIV Golf Houston event wrapped up on Sunday as Carlos Ortiz took the win. If his name sounds familiar, he won the Houston Open on the PGA Tour in 2020 at Memorial Park.

Stat of the day: 11. Blown saves by the Astros bullpen so far this season after Sunday's 9-7 loss to the Angels.
