While some people are still picking up tree trunks and waiting for power to return, near record-breaking summerlike heat is descending upon southeast Texas.
We've already checked off unseasonable heat, flooding, hail and, somehow, Mexican heat dome-fueled derechos off of the "bad weather" list this spring, and an "extremely active" hurricane season is expected.
So, how do we prepare? I'm asking this as a still new and still-terrified southeast Texan.
If you're as lost as I am, check out our guides on how to prepare your home for hurricane season, carbon monoxide and generators, a hurricane checklist, emergency contacts to have and what to do after a hurricane. We've also got guides to flood insurance, heat advisories, and heat safety tips.
Like Oprah Winfrey and cars, we've got just about enough real-time trackers for anyone. That includes a flood tracker, heat tracker, power outage tracker and storm and air quality trackers.
An aside: Oak Ridge North is considering restricting or banning short-term rentals. I've heard a few short-term rental issues and complaints in township meetings and on social media.
What is your opinion on short-term rentals, and what's you experience with them in The Woodlands? Let me know at claire.partain@houstonchronicle.com.
